I couldn't believe. I was actually on my way to Barcelona, Spain. I have been curious as to how the Spaniards are for the longest time. My curiosity came from me speaking Spanish. This is the land where the origins of Spanish were, so I was extremely excited to travel. This was also an exciting weekend because I was going to watch Rodelinda, an opera by George Frideric Handel at "Gran Teatre del Liceu." I decided to go watch this opera because of a Cuban-American soprano, Lissette Oropresa, was going to perform and I love her voice so much. This was also my first time traveling by myself. I hopped on the train from Santa Maria Novella in Florence towards the Bologna train station. I didn't realize that when they say that there are fast trains, they were not kidding around! We were going 300 km/h which is about 200 mph! When I arrived at airport, I normally would go to check-in but I already had my boarding pass, so I just went inside the airport! After waiting for a little bit to get called, it was finally time for me to travel to Spain! I wish I had booked the flight a little later in the day, because I arrived a little too late to do any exploring. I was extremely hungry by this point, and thankfully the airbnb that I stayed at had a Columbian restaurant where I was able to get a plate similar to what I would eat back in the states with my mothers cooking. I went to bed, to get ready for the next day, which included the opera, and a trip to the Sagrada Familia!

I woke up at 8am and was out of the door by 9am. I wanted to see where the opera house was and I wanted to check out the area around it as well. Using probably the most efficient train system in the entire world, to Liceu, where I was found with the opera house at right hand side at the exit of the subway. I was so relived that the opera house was so close to the subway and I had no problem to find it. I wanted to see what else was around, so I decided walk up from the house. I hadn't had breakfast by this point, but I was found with a store called Chök, where they sold the most elaborate donuts and these bagels that were basically donuts. It's indescribably good. After that, I still wanted to explore a little more and went up the street and I found a treasure box. I found a music store called Casa Beethoven where they hold scores of all types: harps, clarinets, flute, opera, art songs, everything! I stayed in here for two hours looking at a lot of opera scores, some that were so old I had to blow the dust off of them. Unfortunately I couldn't stay longer, because I really wanted to city more of the city. There was a park near where I was that I decided to go to that had a really beautiful fountain. Curious, I went. This park was full of people doing all types of things: having pickings, excising, children playing, everything! Whenever I found the fountain, I was in awe. The golden horses, the statutes on the sides, the water, the duck families floating by, everything about this place was stunning. It was at this same moment that I was admiring this building that I should search for the highest point of Barcelona and see the entire city. Thankfully I was able to find by a quick google search. I took the bus from the park and made my way. I had to do a little hike to get up there, but the reward for my trek was worth it. As I gazed the magnitude of the city, I acknowledge how lucky I was to be there looking over the city from one of the highest points in a place I thought I'd never make it to. Unfortunetely, I had to rush back home because by this point my phone was dying, and the last thing I needed was for me to get stranded somewhere because I did not know the address or where anything was because I was relying so much on my phone. After a quick nap and food break, I headed over to the Sagrada Familia cathedral and over to the opera.
